Loaf–Laidback Nightlife in Manchester
If youre not up for a loud night of live rock at Academy 1 and want to hit a slightly more mellow and upscale establishment in Manchester, Loaf on Whitworth Street West might be just what you need.
The bar is peppered with comfortable leather seats. Theyre not arranged in a traditional square pattern, which gives Loaf a more open and relaxed feel. Patrons generally dress in what one might describe as business casual fashion and it rarely gets too loud to have a decent conversation. Loaf is built for mingling.
Dont be fooled when you walk through the doors. Loaf isnt as big as it first appears. Theyve lined as much of the space as possible with mirrors to create a more spacious feel. Drinks are reasonably priced and the bar attracts a low-key crowd of interesting people.
Sometimes you want to go out without developing a headache by the end of the night. There are times when a little company and a few cocktails are more attractive than massive tower amps and beer by the bottle. If that sounds good to you, Loaf is worth a look!
There is a great review of Loaf here. Many of the clubs are situated in the city centre. There a lot of great manchester hotels in the city so you can be right by the action.
